THE FRENCH REVOLUTION
In 1789 the people of france revolted against their rulers.there had been a bad,
harvest and food had become very scarce. many people took part in riots and began demanding
changes in the way the country was governed.
On july 14th 1789 the people of paris attacked the bastille, a prison where people who
opposed the king where held without trial. peasants killed the governor and freed the
prisoners, and they took all the weapons and ammunition that were stored in the prison.
The revolution soon spread throughout all of france.
In 1793 louis xvi and marien Antoinett were executed on the guillotine and soon afterwards
a new form of government was introduced. France became a republic.
